Senior timeline

· Keep your grades up. Colleges will request to see your senior year schedule and grades.
· If you need to retake the ACT the deadline to register for the 10/24 test date is 9/18. Register online at actstudent.org · APPLY!! Deadlines come as early as November 1st! · In order for you application to be considered complete for review a college must have received all pieces of the application by the deadline. This may include:
· Make plans to visit colleges (or college fairs), set up interviews or auditions, speak with reps that visit SEHS. Colleges often take into account your demonstrated interest in their school. · Talk with you counselor about any questions you have or call the admissions office directly. · Start to monitor the SEHS Scholarship website for local opportunities and use the BigFuture site for more general scholarship searches |

Winter (late Dec- Feb)
· In order to be ready to apply for Federal Student Aid (grants) you will file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA), available on January 1st. In order to be ready for this you and you parents should use December to gather the following materials:
· Continue to search and apply for scholarships.
- Create you FSA ID. You will need an ID to electronically sign your FASFA.
- Your Social Security Number
- Your Alien Registration Number (If you are not a U.S. Citizen)
- Your most recent federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned.
- Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
- Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
· Continue to search and apply for scholarships.
sPRING (MARCH - MAY)· Expect your Student AID Report (SAR) to come from each of the colleges you applied to so you can compare financial aid award packages.
. Take AP exams if appropriate and request that scores be sent to the college you will be attending. · May 1st is the National Reply Date. You must notify your 1st choice college on or before this day that you will be enrolling. Send tuition deposit. Failure to notify might cause you to lose your place in the freshmen class. · Notify other colleges that you are declining their offer and will not be enrolling. · Request your final transcript to be sent to the college that you will be attending in the fall (you will fill out a request form at graduation practice). |
